Pixelmonkeys Mood Theme

Installation Instructions

Requirements:
  1. A paid (or permanent) LJ account - Sorry, you can't use a custom mood theme with a free account.
  2. Your own server space - Because bandwidth costs money.
Instructions:
  1. Download this zip file - pixelmonkeys.zip - and unzip it.
  2. Upload the images to your server.
  3. Make sure you are logged into your LJ account, then go to http://www.livejournal.com/admin/console/.
  4. In the text box there, type (or paste): moodtheme_create "Pixelmonkeys" "Pixelmonkeys Mood Theme"
  5. Click "Execute"
  6. Note down the number that it gives you as a Theme ID -- this is important
  7. In the zipped file, as well as the images, there is also a file called moodcode.txt. Open it -- use Word, Wordpad or some other program that will let you do a "Replace All."
  8. Replace (replace all) "**ThemeID#**" with the actual number that you were given as a Theme ID. (Told you it was important!)
  9. Replace (replace all) "**YourURL**" with the actual server and directory into which you uploaded the image files.

Example: If you uploaded the images to http://www.mywebspace.com/pixelmonkeys/ then you would replace **YourURL** with http://www.mywebspace.com/pixelmonkeys/
Note: the trailing / is required.)
  10. Select all, and copy the entire contents.
  11. Go back to http://www.livejournal.com/admin/console/
  12. This time, in the command box, paste the entire contents of the modified moodcode.txt file.
  13. Click "Execute"
  14. You should get a response page that lists out each image and tells you that it was set correctly.
  15. Finally, go to http://www.livejournal.com/modify.bml. Scroll down to the box where you can choose a mood icon set, and at the very bottom, below the fixed LJ moods, you should now find "Pixelmonkeys". Choose that, click Save Changes, and you now have the Pixelmonkeys mood theme!

Love and thanks to my inspirational monkeys, Dale and Aaron. Thanks to Genevieve for being one of the biggest Pixelmonkeys supporters! Thanks also to Enthymeme, who's well-written instructions I've copied for use here. (He's got his own snazzy mood theme set at http://www.enthymeme.net/enthytheme/.)
